Soap Nuts

Soap Nuts!!!!  I love these little nuts, actually berry shells, that come from a tree.  Our wonderful neighbors, Bev and Jim, introduced them to us about a year ago and I have been a user ever since.

They contain saponin, a natural detergent, which is released when they get wet.

I throw about 5 of them in a little bag and stick them in the washing machine with my laundry.  I don’t use any other detergent, just the nuts…and voila..they wash my clothes perfectly!  (5 nuts per bag…5 loads per bag …umm…talk about saving some $$$)
